Shemini Atzeret & Simchat Torah 2024. Following the seven joyous days of sukkot, we come to the happy holiday of shemini atzeret/simchat torah. This is the day to interact personally with god’s given word.
After dark ( tzeit hakochavim ), women and girls light candles — in the home — for simchat torah, using an existing flame. Simchat torah (rejoicing in the law) is celebrated in the reform calendar as the eighth day of sukkot.
